Peg It Forward people!

This is awesome. Just found it a few minutes asgo on the instagrams and am swooning. I love how creative we get as frugal peoples longing to bring a smile.

Very simple concept and very fun.  Very Very fun. LOVE IT 🙂

tabforacause.org

hey strangers,

not something specifically HSesque, but to share a fun thing to do to raise funds for those who need it is tabforacause.org.

basically your everyday activity can raise money for causes aroudn the world.

do what you can with what youve got!

27 gifts for my big 2-7 :)

Today I turned 27.

The goal today was to share 27 gifts with 27 people, or as many as i could with 27 being the goal, and the minimum. Packed up cards, tiny bags with change, and my special printed birthday cards and went to town! I took 3 of my specials with me, 2 sisters and a dear dear friend and we had a really great birthday! I don’t have pictures, as we were in a hurry, but I will chronicle them here!

10 People in the form of Suspended Coffees (coffees purchased for future patrons who inquire if there any available, they dont have to pay for them.) Check your local Java Crew and see if they do that 🙂

+1 Person in the form of coffee: they always give me a full stamp card when I do that, and I always just have them then give that full card towards the person behind me’s purchase. in this case, The barista did so, but the gave me another full one. so technically even another +1! 🙂

+2 People who would arrive at their bus stop to see their trip has been paid for, with a little note 🙂

+1 Person at the Emergency Room Vending machine. We couldn’t find any of the other ones, and it was after hours so they might’ve been on floors we couldnt visit.

+10 People at Dutch Brothers in the form of coffee! They got personalized messages from me, instead of one of my HSP cards, that explained it was my birthday, and I wanted them t have a great day….dont wanna let a girl down on her birthday right?

+4 People at the Laundromat. the bags were too heavy to use with tape, hopefully they see them before they put their clothes in!

+1 person at a payphone. I hit a median trying to get to that damn payphone. I hope someone sees it and feels loved!

+30+ People at the hospital who will find HS cards placed strategically in gifts they buy or recieve, or in their magazines they sift through, or on the seat they sit on. I wish I could be a fly on the wall.

+1 at a coffee stand. drove through just to spend my last 5bucks and give away my last birthday card.

Also got a lead on a barista’s birthday on December 9th, think I might have to make him a little card 🙂

🙂

oh! almost forgot!

+1 for the dutch brothers barista. We bought a couple bouquets of flowers for another car flower run, but we didnt have the time! So I brought onefull bouquet to the dutch brothers and gave them to the barista.

+1 for another stand that was gifted 1/2 of a bouquet in their tip jar as a little pick-me-up

and

+1 for the mom with 2 kids in a 2 door car going shopping ast Fred Meyer. I left her one on her car with a note too 🙂

That is a successful birthday!

Soul Mate #1: The Cursing Hey Stranger

Someone forwarded this to me, and I fell in love from afar. We are soul mates, whoever did this. and I love them for it. If this was you, know my heart reaches out and fist bumps you.

Much love.

Apple Cider Fail!

Today the mission was Apple Cider for the Police Station, with some sweet HS notes and handmade drawings from the kids.

Wellllllll. Both attempts on the Apple Cider was a fail! So instead we just sent a little paper love to the Police Station.

A local police officer was KIA this week and we wanted desperately to show our appreciation for the things they do, for the job they do.

Besides, i bet they get a lot of crum sometimes.

Hope they liked it!

Rest in Peace Officer Robert Libke. We are thankful for you!

7 cards, 7 people

today I had a few extra minutes in the Fred Meyer store, so I popped over to the book section and stuffed some cards in books and magazines.

What a fun surprise!

Double Reds!

Sometimes Hey Strangering means you dont get to tell the person youre thinking of them…and sometimes you don’t give them a card, you give them your blood.

Im a regular giver these days, but I can only donate every 16 weeks due to using a process for extracting the red blood cells. this donation collects twice as much as a regular donation and is usually used for premature babies or those in accidents who may not need whole blood.

I strongly strongly encourage blood donation. It has saved the lives of 4 people I personally know and am thankful every day for.

Your blood comes back, please give what you can.

Sometimes Hey Strangering is literally giving a piece of you away….and knowing others will be happier and healthier for it.

Do what you can with what youve got friends!

Thankful for my Blood Sister doing Blood Donation Dates!

Sigh. Not the best Baker.

Which is pseudo ironic, if you know me.

However!

Today I attempted to make some cookies for the local fire station. We have 2 within a mile of our house, and I wanted to make a batch for each this month.

sigh.

todays batch was a fail! But I cant let the Littles see this. After all, they were so excited to have cookies for the firemen! I had invited my 4 year old goddaughter over here, and her and my 4 year old helped make the fail cookies. so I snuck to safeway and just bought a couple dozen. we then took them to the firehouse with some Hey Stranger notes and slipped them inside the doors for them when they arrived from their run!

🙂

Another Run with my Sun!

I am a firm believer in instilling values in Littles at an early age. Every year we do some version of toys for tots, military care packages and letters etc, but this year was special. My Son (who I call my Sun or my Sonshine) is finally old enough to get a better grasp on the concept. He is 3, turning 4 at the end of the month, and so I wanted to share some of this with him. On top of that, the recent tragedy in Newtown, had me wanting to keep him close as we do 27 acts together. Most of the time the things I do with him are small, things like coffee dates where we pay for the person behind us, or donating his toys to the childrens or drawing pictures for kids int he hospital or for soldiers, but this year I wanted something more tangible for him.

Additionally, he has a Share Jar, a jar that he can earn money for doing kind things around the house: helping sister, or using really great manners, or being an otherwise just really kind kid. I love rewarding that behavior, and I love that once his jar is full, the choice is in his hands where to take it. He almost always chooses the same place: the Humane Society.

With my sister working for the local Humane Society, it works perfect. So I thought we would head there for a few of our kindnesses.

First he got to pick off of the giving tree, and we headed to the local supermarket down the road and picked up items off of the Humane Society Wish List.

Then we came back, donated share monies and went on our usual tour to go greet all of the animals and give them some love.

that’s when we met Poodle.

Poodle was a senior cat, I think about 11, with the kindest eyes. I could tell she didn’t like the hustle and bustle of the crowd and the loud kids around, or the other cats, but her temperament was very gentle and sweet. I instantly wished I could have boughten her. Her adoption fee wasn’t very high, as a senior cat in a holiday special, so we decided the next best thing to adopting her was paying for someone else to, that way money would not come in the way with this girl getting her forever home to retire in.

So we did!

We learned it still took a couple weeks for the right family to come along, but hopefully they appreciated the gesture 🙂

Rest Easy Poodle girl!
